Images and videos are a big part of engaging your Community, read on to find out how to post them!
So you've read all about how to make a Post and you want to dive in to the detail of posting images and videos to your Community. Well you've come to the right place!
There are three ways to post an image or a video:
You can post up to 5 images in a single Post, or 1 video in a single post. Anything more than that will only detract from the overall content you're sharing.
The Console:
To begin with, head to the Console and select Engage from the left hand menu and then click on Posts.
Click on Create Post on the right hand side, which will take you to the post window.
Select the Group you want to post to and then select who you would like the post to appear from.
(Names will only appear here once someone is an admin of the group. You can learn more about this here)
Navigate down to Attach a file or media and click upload from the drop-down menu. Clicking this will take you to your computers file system to select the content you wish to upload.
Once you've added your desired content, don't forget to press Create Post!
The Web Platform:
The easiest way to find a Group to Post to, is to head to your Communities Activity Feed.
Once you're there, you'll see the Post composer. Select the Group you want to Post to from the drop down menu and away you go.
Click on the paperclip icon and select the images or video you would like to Post. Add in a snappy title (pun intended) and press Post!
The App:
Log in to the App and on the home page you will see a + icon at the bottom right corner.
Select the + icon from the bottom right corner and you'll get taken to a Post window.
At the top, select the Group you want to Post to (you can see we've selected the Group titled Official) and then click on the paperclip icon at the bottom left corner of the page.
Attach the content you want to add, and when you're ready, press Post!
Recommended Sizes and Dimensions:
We have some image dimensions we recommend to allow you to post large and small images without it affecting the way images appear:
- Posting a single portrait image: 720x960 pixels.
- Posting a single landscape image: 720x540 pixels.
When you Post multiple images, we place them into a letterbox-style template that crops them until you press and expand the image.
We recommend posting the images in a 4:3 Aspect Ratio as these are displayed in full, with no letterboxing and look the best once posted.
When it comes to videos, we limit video sizes to anything up to 1GB.
And we currently support video playback at 360p, 480p & 720p.
However, the good news is, you can upload a video at any resolution and in most formats because our system will then transcode it into a HLS format in one of these sizes:
