Push notifications on the Web platform also require an additional step based on the Web Browser you are using, let's go through it together.
Push Notifications allow you to alert a member to specific content in your Community when they are not actively using your Community.
They are not allowed to be enabled by default or on behalf of a member, luckily they are very easy to enable and members receive prompts to enable them via the Notification Centre too.
Enabling Push Notifications on the Web Browser:
For this example, we're going to show you the experience via the Google Chrome browser. However, it's important to note that some Web Browsers may not allow for Push Notifications or may require additional browser specific steps.
Log in to the Web platform and head to the Settings tab at the bottom of the left hand menu. From here, select the option for Push Notifications.
You will see that the toggle to enable push notifications is initially set to off.
Toggle this to on and you will see a prompt from your Web Browser making sure that you wish to enable Push Notifications for the Web platform.
The settings for this can be found in your Web Browsers individual settings.
Once you have allowed this, you will see that the toggle for enable push notifications is on, and you will be able to customise what Push Notifications you want to receive from the settings below the toggle.
When you receive a Push Notification for your Community, you'll receive a small clickable prompt in much the same way that you do on your device Home Screen for the iOS and Android Apps.
